Now it is time for the color. I flip my vellum over and add the base
color to my car. I always try to use different colors so I always learn.
This time I choose orange Prismacolor. I add color to the horizon line
down and the flopped rear and front surface. You are trying to get the
1, 2, and 3 even on a side sketch.

STEP 4: I flip my paper over and what you should have is a 50% orange on your front side. This is your base color and now we will begin to make it pop. I add the same orange color on the top side of the page and try to graduate
it as it goes to the rear of the car. This gives the car life and visual
impact. This is where your own style will show through. Try different
ways to make these surfaces. Sometimes I use geometric shapes in the surface
or as shown here I do random swirls or curves. |

I continue to add orange until I get the desired look I want. I will even let the marker dry and add more layers to get a nice layered look always remembering to be darker at the horizon line. |
Harv's tip of the day: Find quality vellum. When you draw on the back side you should only get about 50% value on the front side. I use Vincent vellum but it is almost impossible to find. |
